When you look at the Shanghai skyline towards the Pudong District, along the Huangpu River, you will notice a tower dotted with spheres. That spherical tower is the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. This tower was the tallest building in China from 1994 until 2007, when the Shanghai World Financial Center was built.
Pearl Tower has 15 spheres but three are for sightseeing. At 295 feet is Space City while the Sightseeing Floor is at 863 feet.
For the brave, there is a glass-bottom observation deck for tourist to walk on and observe the city below their feet.
In between the two levels, there are a revolving restaurant and hotel. At 1148 feet is the highest observatory level named Space Module. It offers a bird’s eye view of the city along the Bund.
Tip: Go on a clear day to avoid the smog and try to go during dusk to watch the sunset.
