If you’re looking for a fine dining experience in Shanghai, I highly recommend Scarpetta. In the most unexpected city, you can experience Shanghai’s greatest Italian restaurant.
The polenta in a jar is filled with wild mushroom and eaten with a cheese crisp.
You can taste the freshness in their Caprese salad. You can taste the freshness of the mozzarella.
The wagyu beef carpaccio, compliments of the chef, was one of my favorite dishes here. The premium quality of the wagyu definitely shows through in each bite.
The bone marrow orecchiette bolognese was amazing! The roasted marrow is scraped off the bone and then mixed into the pasta to add a fatty meaty flavor.
The scampi risotto looked appetizing but my shrimp allergy kept me at arm’s length.
If you still have room, I recommend ordering the roasted 750G black pig spare rib. This slow roasted hunk of meat doesn’t disappoint.
For dessert, I went next door to Coquille, Scarpetta’s French sister restaurant.
